  • What is RoundUp.org?

RoundUp.org is an approved financial partner of Visa and Mastercard that lets you automatically round up everyday credit-card purchases and donate your spare change to any nonprofit you care about. It is the only way to directly link your credit card to a nonprofit of your choosing, turning everyday spending into predictable, recurring impact.

For nonprofits, RoundUp.org offers the simplest round-up program available; no sign-up, no extra staff, no expenses, and no technical expertise required. We provide each nonprofit with a ready-to-use QR code and web link to their non-profit page where donors can select the card they want to use to round up for the nonprofit. Nonprofits can promote the link or QR code via email, newsletters, printed material, or on social media. Supporters, whether individuals or businesses, can also share the QR code with their audiences to support the nonprofit even further. RoundUp.org makes predictable, recurring donations brilliantly simple and efficient for nonprofits.

  • How does RoundUp.org work?

Donors can search for a nonprofit on RoundUp.org or follow a nonprofit-specific URL or QR code. Donors then link their Visa or Mastercard information to start rounding up their purchases into monthly donations. These donations go first to a Donor Advised Fund called Our Change Foundation (“OCF”) which will then send your contribution to the nonprofit you designated, unless that nonprofit is ineligible. On the 1st of each month, RoundUp.org charges the linked card one-time for the total amount of the RoundUps from each purchase made during the prior month. The donation amount, net of fees, is sent to our charitable distribution partner, Our Change Foundation, a United States 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity and donor-advised fund, and is made available to the nonprofit for withdrawal within 15 days subject to RoundUp.org’s Terms of Service.

  • Can I help get other people to round up for my favorite nonprofit?

Absolutely! Every nonprofit on RoundUp.org has a unique QR code and URL that you can share via text, email, or social media, to encourage others to join the cause. And, it's best to get the word out quickly because donors can only support one nonprofit at a time on RoundUp.org.

  • Are my Round ups tax-deductible?

Yes. Donations, including any fees you choose to cover, qualify for tax deduction as allowed by law. You'll receive a tax receipt each month.

  • How does RoundUp.org cover its costs?

RoundUp.org retains $2 from each monthly donation as a fundraising expense. Nonprofits never pay to participate. And that expense is paid by Our Change Foundation prior to making the grant to the nonprofit.

There are also third-party expenses associated with processing donations, including credit card processing, securely obtaining the transaction data needed to calculate roundups, and processing and distributing grants by ACH or check.

These expenses are paid from the funds donated to Our Change Foundation before it calculates the amount of the grant to the donor’s selected nonprofit. Together, these expenses are a maximum of $1.30 + 4.8% of each donation and may decrease as donation volume increases.

After these expenses and the fundraising expense for RoundUp.org, Our Change Foundation typically grants about 85% of the amount donated to the donor’s selected nonprofit. When a donor chooses to cover the expenses, the nonprofit typically receives about 94% of the original donation amount.
